Tangy Pit Beans

Last night was my sister-in-law’s evening so I made a barbecue for her. Pulled Chicken and Pulled Pork, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Tangy Pit Beans and Collard Greens. I’ve posted some of these recipes previously (follow the links) so today I’m bringing you the recipe for the Tangy Pit Beans. Enjoy!

Tangy Pit Beans

3 cups ketchup
2 Tbs prepared yellow mustard
1 cup diced onion
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cups honey
1 Tbs Magic Dust
1 28 oz can of pork and beans
1 15 oz can red kidney beans
1 15 oz can chili beans
1 15 oz can butter beans
1 15 oz can black beans

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix the mustard, ketchup, onion, bell pepper, brown sugar, honey and Magic Dust together in a large bowl. Be sure to work out all the lumps of brown sugar. Add the beans and gently mix them into the sauce (don’t break the skins of the beans).

Pour into a large baking pan and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes then uncover the beans and bake for another 15 minutes or until bubbly.
